Could it really be
the great vast sea
was once my home?
Her calming blues,
the way she moves,
caressing the sand.
And yet her wrath
crashes against rock
While despite myself
I can never know her,
not fully, not ever.
And maybe that’s why
she will always beguile
familiar faces like me,
like she does passersby.
But still I stay anyway;
We’re all the sea
wouldn’t you agree?
Capable of calm
And unforgivable harm
Yet we choose to stay,
to trust and to love
And isn’t that simply
the most beautiful thing?
