When the world gets too dark

And the silence of my home

feels like an onerous privilege,

And calm feels out of reach,

I switch off from the noise

And I can do it all with ease.

When people around me pray

for a glimpse of tomorrow’s sun

Not met them but I understand

their longing for hope as they run.

They’re people not unlike me

And all I can do is pray too,

that they find peace to keep.
